So, you're looking for some things to do locally this fall?
Happily, there are lots of fun places to go and things to do and see in Monmouth and Ocean counties in the fall, and any time of year. There are just a few suggestions below, and some of the details may change seasonally. Something for everyone!
Manasquan Inlet is fun place visit any time of year - both sides offer interesting things to see and do - Manasquan and Point Pleasant Beach. If it is stormy, watch the waves and surf, and you might see the Coast Guard go out to train. If If it calmer, watching the fishing and private boats go by, or bring your own fishing gear, and catch some fish for yourself. There are also nearby restaurants and other attractions on both sides.
A brewery, located on a farm in nearby Cream Ridge. Hours and activities vary by season, but they always have a variety of local craft beer, and you can bring your own lunch or snacks! No outside alcohol is permitted.
If you like pie... ( or even if you don't) Emery's is a fun place to visit, and is in New Egypt, not far from Cream Ridge. Activities vary seasonally, but included a corn maze, hay rides, farm, animals, and more. Be sure to take a home a pie or other goodies! :-)
The Franklin Parker Preserve is located in the central-southern part of the state, and is a protected and preserved mixture of old cranberry bog and protected pinelands, with walking, biking, and horse riding trails throughout. Good for a visit any time of year, with other interesting sites nearby.
Algonquin Arts Theatre (AAT) is a 501c(3) non-profit center for performing arts, located in the heart of Manasquan. Their entire calendar includes musicals, plays, concerts, educational programs, and more. [Note: as of this writing, Ed is on their board.]
A seasonal waterfront restaurant and bar in Brielle - a good stop for lunch - overlooking the water, and watching the boats go by!
Island Beach State Park is a good option in any season! Depending on the time of year, go for a walk, go for a swim, or a walk on one of the trails. Depending on the time of year, you may see many varieties of birds, perhaps a fox, and in the cooler weather, maybe even a whale or a seal!
Known for U-Pick Tulips and Sunflowers depending on the season, and much more. Always a fun and pretty visit!
